Damon placed on disabled list
NEW YORK, July 6 (UPI) -- The New York Yankees' Johnny Damon, injured when he crashed into an outfield fence, has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a shoulder injury.
Damon, 34, was hurt Friday while trying to catch a ball hit by Kevin Youkilis of the Boston Red Sox at Yankee Stadium.
After slamming his back into the fence, Damon clutched his side in obvious pain. He later underwent X-rays and an MRI.
Damon, who is batting .319 this season, had never before been on the disabled list.
