Gospel star Wright injured in car crash

NEW YORK, July 6 (UPI) -- The Rev. Timothy Wright, a noted gospel singer, has been critically injured in a Pennsylvania car crash that claimed his wife's life, authorities say.

Pennsylvania State Police said the Grace Tabernacle Christian Center founder and his wife were driving in Greene Township, Pa., Friday when their vehicle was hit head-on by an oncoming car, The New York Times reported Sunday.

Wright received critical injuries, as did his 14-year-old grandson, D. J., and his wife Betty was killed.

Police said the man driving the other car also was killed. He was identified as 44-year-old Pennsylvania resident John Pick.

The pastor and his family had been traveling home to New York from a Detroit conference when the accident occurred, the Times said.

Among Wright's many vocal accomplishments were the songs "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus," "Troubles Don't Last Always" and "Who's on the Lord's Side?"
